A punk pioneer, the famed New York Dolls frontman died on February 28, 2025. He was 75.

David Johansen led the New York Dolls as a vanguard of the punk scene, later finding solo success and segueing to his tuxedo-clad, pompadoured alter ego, Buster Poindexter.
